And ...Yes, it was all very eye-opening for me, too. And we do have our struggles with racial tension and poverty here, for sure. I'm reading Buck, and yes, I'm finding it a lot more graphic than I expected, but it's clarifying some things for me. As a Christian, it's made me think hard about the way that I respond or don't respond when I see even "small" examples of racism firsthand. Am I an advocate for people the Bible calls "the least of these"? Reading in the book of Luke lately, I see so much compassion and humility in Christ's example to us. We're supposed to be reaching the poor and needy, the people who are without hope. What a convicting thought! Let it not be just a thought. His keynote addres...This is very thought-provoking. His keynote address had me thinking of the poverty and race situations we face in our schools here, in Southern Idaho. I was impressed with his family's focus on education, and his determination to learn everything he could to get out of that . . .
